Back to work!

Hi all,
What a long week it was and looks like the next will be the same!
For those of you that have been following my online podcasting class experiment (thanks). I think that giving something away might decrease the value, and that is why I want to thank those brave people that have stood by and watched this develop!
I will be continuing the experiment next week with some more content and some exciting castings so please stay tuned!
The link is on my site at http://itanewf.com

Best to all thanks

Beatitudes

Jesus describes those who are truly fortunate, the lucky ones of their day. But it is not emperors, conquerors, priests, and the wealthy who enjoy this favor. Rather, it is the common people, those whom earthly success has largely passed by: the poor, the meek, the persecuted, the peacemakers. How can this be? Because though they may have been denied worldly success, what cannot be taken away from them is their potential to live rightly by one another. It is all too easy for those who enjoy the pleasures of this world to try to float above such obligations. Jesus goes on to say that so long as ordinary people stand for the right things and do not retreat in their rightness before those who seem to have more power, what ’s right will prevail. It’s their kingdom — a kingdom organized not from the top down, but from the bottom up. In the Beatitudes, Jesus offers a description of the community of goodwill his teaching will build in this world.

Reading What the Beatitudes Teach

This appears a great commentary on the Beatitudes. How do these fit in in with religious 12 step Programs?

What we follow! Matthew 15

In my life I have followed many but found none. For me this passage is about pride and what we chose to believe. If we follow our self and think we know what is best for us then we fall. How can I not being g'd know his plan for me. If I f follow g'd an his plan then I avoid the pit. I believe that I know better I wander blind and fall in the pit.

Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides.[d] If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

Today I have started to learn to hear and with work will understand

“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’[a]

Today I have started to learn to hear and with work will understand

Things that I need to finish in the next week

Finish up the paper on online interviewing and students perceptions of online learning for the virtual presentation! Then I can go without going!

There is no need to worry

MATTHEW 6
... your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

My need to be in touch, online, up to date, and knowing all and ready for all is just about my worry. I need not worry if I have faith. He knows what I need!

My worry only is taking me away from family and the people and rewards of a life filled with righteousness.

Reading on innovation

I have been reading Democratizing Innovation by Eric Von Hippel
Found this quote that I think I will use in my class
In order to profit, inventors must sell or license knowledge related to inventions, and manufactures must sell products products or services incorporating innovations.

Ok.... So now that we are all producers and consumers of information can we get past the profit?

What about the hacker that gives it all away in an open source model?
Stay tuned for the next installment in SOC 149

Thinking about learning and teaching online

"Most universities press their faculty to add technology to their classroom by adopting the Learning Management System—Blackboard, Moodle, etc. This is a mistake. Faculty often end up spending hours learning the system and loading the same content that they use in the classroom, and finish wondering if the benefit was worth the effort."

This is opening of new new report released by Faculty Focus:

http://www.facultyfocus.com/free-reports/teaching-with-technology-tools-and-strategies-to-improve-student-learning/?c=FF&t=F110114

What happened to training faculty in the use of technology!
This is why students perceptions of online learning are so varied and students find that online learning has less value then traditional f2f teaching (Armstrong, 2010)

Friends and my love

Although I try and live without the "what if" or "if only" I still wish that I could take back some things from yesterday.

I am better because of the people in my life, and although I need at times to be alone, I find when I am alone I want to be with others.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-11

9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: 10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?

Reading for today: a convenient

Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though[a] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.”

A promise brought to all men through gods grace and his love for us all. A promis delivered to us through Christ

What do we want from life?

Home today after a long day and I wonder what it is that we want from life? Today I believe that I am powerless to change my life in a positive way on my own! This does not mean that positive change can not happen only that for the change I am looking for I must trust in something more then me!

Today I start the journey to better me and my life by thinking beyond the life at I have and giving to god those things that he asks. In faith all things are possible and I will be looking for that faith again. In the past I had faith, faith in me, faith in my family and faith in god. Faith is not blind. Faith is not allowing the world to walk on or over me, faith is the belief in things unseen!

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
